Oh, hi there!  So glad you stopped by my blog to visit.  Kick off your shoes and stay a while; or keep them on, just make sure to wipe your feet.  I’m a bit of stickler for cleanliness, unless I’ve had a few beers; in which case I’m totally fine with you tracking in.  Just be sure to leave a comment so I can smile while I clean up the mess later.

So let’s see, what were we talking about?

Yes, about….hmmmmm.  What exactly is this blog about?

Well, it started out as a place to post about all of the things that make me happy:  music, memories, fitness, and food.  But very quickly that list expanded to include beer, random lists, weird stuff that happens throughout the day,  a bit of blog hopping, and a new found love of writing flash fiction.    So I dropped the second part of my blog’s name and became simply, Quick Stepp.  It’s a bit of a play on my last name and the fact that I fancy myself to be quick.  Quick, as in quick witted.  I’m not actually very fast by foot.  Or maybe I’m mistaking being quick witted with being a smart ass.  Oh well, Quick Stepp has a better ring to it than Smart Ass Stepp.

I also started this little “project” as I like to refer to it, because I used to rather enjoy writing.  But when you grow up, finish school, and start working in the real world, not many writing opportunities present themselves that are at all creative or enjoyable.    So here we are; this is my outlet for all of the thoughts spinning around in my brain while I work behind a computer all day in a corporate high-rise.  While I’m spreadsheeting and flowcharting, secretly I’m looking forward to my next blog post.

As for me,  I’m a 30-something trying to navigate this thing called life.   I share a home with my best friend, Matt,  who I’m also lucky enough to call my boyfriend and three ridiculous animals:  Jovi, the brown dog and love of my life after Matt;  Cubbie, the world’s most neurotic cat; and Doobie, the cat of a million names who desires none of our affection.  I’m loud and shy at the same time.  I’m a vegan who fell off the wagon and now must refer to herself as a vegetarian (damn you cheese and your creamy deliciousness).  There aren’t many things more appealing to me than sitting by a backyard fire with my friends and family, sipping some beers, listening to some great tunes, and telling stories.

Sound like something you might be into?  Awesome, we should totally be buddies.   I hope you come back to enjoy these small snippets from my life and the things I love.

  1. Reading “Half of a Squirrel: An homage to Jan” made me laugh, smile and tear up. How creative is going from a ravaged animal intro to a mother’s day tribute? Don’t worry Honey Bee; you are well on your way to being as cool as me. You can’t help it; it’s in your DNA. You never quit surprising me with the things you do. I am so proud of the person you are. You certainly do “Stay Positive & Love Your Life!”

  2. The professor has huge muddy boots…

    And he sends his greetings!

  3. I had to click to see why the cheese is the devil. I’ve never been vegan or vegetarian, but I can relate to the yumminess of cheese.

Entertaining ‘about’ page…glad I took a moment to read it 🙂

    • Thanks. It is really the devil. I know it’s not good for me and I struggle with the ethics (try to at least get it from local farmers), but I’ve fallen off of the proverbial wagon. Hoping to hop back on again at some point.
Goat cheese is my biggest nemesis, followed closely by mozzarella.

  4. Thanks so much for all the support on my blog! I appreciate it very much.

I’m going to enjoy following yours, and I’m definitely a big fan of your “about” page.

    Keep up the great work!

  5. Nice page, it the cheese drew me in! And I’m definitely intrigued! 🙂

  6. Try being from a city named after cheese (Colby)…it’s a staple served even at the church pancake breakfast. I’m visiting from Trifecta, glad I found your blog!

  7. Randomness, and you don’t mind me tracking in slush?
    *offers six pack*
    Hell yes!

  8. I think I would die if I was a vegan. I can’t live without cheese.

Okay, your turn to talk!
